Vacancies at Mercy Corps (Jakarta and West Sumatera)

JAKARTA
 
1. Communications Officer
The incumbent will support overall internal and external communication, documentation and publication in relation to Mercy Corps Indonesia Country Program. The communications Officer will assist all work of the Communications Coordinator, but will specifically be responsible for providing graphic designs for the overall external and internal publications and communication in relation to Mercy Corps programs. The Communications Officer will also handle the regular updating of Mercy Corps Indonesia website, file and archive newspaper and/or magazine clippings of Mercy Corps media coverage (media monitoring), and assist in documenting field activities when needed.
 
Qualifications:

University degree in mass communication or a relevant field;
Prior experience in a similar post or in a communications field minimum 1 year;
Prior experience in an international NGO/PVO or an international firm is advantageous; 
Prior experience in supervisory role is preferable;
General understanding of relief and development programs is required;
Good English skills required, both verbal and written;
Multi-tasking, coordination, organization, prioritization skills strongly preferred;
Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines;
Highly-developed computers skills, with strong familiarity with Adobe softwares, at least one (any) graphic design software, MS Office, Power point, Outlook, Excel, and Word;
Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team and with other team members required.
 
2. Sanitation Specialist – PUSH (Program of Urban Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion)
The Sanitation Specialist will work under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, and is responsible for the successful implementation of all project activities in the assigned targeted area. The Sanitation Specialist will coordinate and oversee the activities of the project, and will directly participate in conducting water and sanitation field research, community based water and sanitation activities and outreach providing training, mentoring and coaching to communities, project development and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation in the project communities. Additional responsibilities include liaising with Mercy Corps other Urban Programs.
 
Qualifications:
§         3-4+ years in community based water and sanitation project preferably  in  urban context
§         BA/S or higher in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or other  relevant background
§         Fluency in English verbal and written communication is highly preferred.
§         Ability to multi-task, follow procedures, meet deadlines and works independently and cooperatively with team members essential.
§         Strong familiarity with Auto Cad or any design software, Water Supply Design Software, Microsoft Word and Excel are mandatory.
§         Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
 
This position will be as contract employee for 5 months.
 
WEST SUMATERA
 
1. Procurement Officer
The Procurement Officer is responsible for overseeing general aspects of Mercy Corps’ in general procurement policy.
Implement field testing of all approved procurement procedures in coordination with the Operations Manager, finance and administration personnel and in consultation with all program managers and key staff, both national and international; provide feedback on system including additional recommendations.
 
Qualifications:

Must have demonstrated understanding of logistics ethics and good managerial skills with a diverse team and large flow of information and activities.
Must be able to work independently and prioritize, show initiative;
experience in an NGO setting;
A strong understanding of donor compliance and budgets is required, Report writing;
ability to make recommendations for improvement; strong computer (MS Office), filing, and organizational skills;
excellent spoken and written English;
Willing to travel throughout the project areas in Padang and West Sumatera.
 
This position will be as contract employee for 6 months.
